AAWS is offering the chance to come out of your studio and share work with fellow artists. If you're looking for critique, some suggestions, helpful questions or a little sharing of ideas, then come downtown for our new series called Reading Work.  The third gathering of Reading Work takes place from 10:30 until noon on Saturday morning, June 19th. Bring some work or bring your laptop, bring ideas, and, heck, since it's free, bring a friend.

Board members and artists Shawn Beard and Diana Greene will be on hand for round three of Reading Work.

Learn how to market your artwork - June 28th

June 28th (Monday)
3-5pm at AAWS

Learn about the new tool for marketing your artwork, http://www.cityofthearts.com/, and new ways it can help you gain exposure and find cultural opportunities in our community. In addition, Pat Spainhour, a professional artist with extensive show experience, will share some of the tips that she has picked up attending conferences and workshops on marketing one's work and creating gallery presentations. Also, Emily-Sarah Lineback, new editor of Winston-Salem Monthly magazine, will speak on print marketing options and other tips of the trade as an experienced entrepreneur.

Cost: $15 AAWS members, $20 non-members

55th Annual Members Meeting - TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 15

Attention all members! Tomorrow is our 55th Annual Members Meeting and you are invited!

All Members in good standing are invited to participate in the annual election of Officers and Board Members for Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, Inc. A brief business meeting, including elections, will be followed by a special program on the AAWS annual trip to Ecuador!


The Annual Meeting will be held in the AAWS Main Gallery at 301 West 4th Street on Tuesday June 15th at 5:30 pm.

This Friday: Plein Air Workshop with Judy Meyler and Cheryl Powell

AAWS has an exciting workshop taking place this week and you still have time to participate!

Plein Air Introduction:  Tools and Techniques
Friday, June 4th at AAWS 10am-12noon

Judy Meyler and Cheryl Powell will co-present a plein air workshop at AAWS. This will be an overview of tools and techniques used for painting "on the spot" and will prepare participants for getting started in this practice. A plein air demo at a downtown green spot will be included, so wear comfortable shoes. AAWS will provide drinks and a/c for the lecture portion.
