Recent Happenings at AAWS -

The Wake Forest University Community Law & Business Clinic did an excellent presentation, "Basic Legal Info for Artists," on Nov 3, 2010 at Associated Artists of Winston-Salem. 

This presentation covered the complex issues that arise for many artists - topics such as trademarks, copyrights, and setting up your business (differences between sole proprietorship, LLC, INC, etc) were covered.  To learn about other upcoming presentations and events, please visit http://www.associatedartists.org/

AAWS is Buzzing with Activity...

"Black & White" Exhibition Opening Reception,
Thursday, July 15th, 5-7pm at AAWS:

We had a fantastic turnout for the opening reception of "Black & White."   It was a wonderful evening full of intriguing art, good conversation, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and ... fun!  People of all ages enjoyed the various interpretations of this all-member theme show.  Black and white works of art hung on the walls, but the evening was in full color!

Carl Galie Workshop: "Preparing Digital Files"
Friday, July 16, 10am-12pm at AAWS

A good group of folks turned up to hear about preparing digital images for submissions.  Whether learning how to edit images for submissions to juried shows or how to format files for email and websites, this workshop was chock-full of tips, how-tos, and information!  

  

Carl Galie,shown above, an experienced photographer and active AAWS member, led the discussion with a presentation and robust question & answer session.

"Marketing Your Art" Presentation

June 28th (Monday)

3-5pm at AAWS

Learn about the new tool for marketing your artwork, http://www.cityofthearts.com/, and new ways it can help you gain exposure and find cultural opportunities in our community. In addition, Pat Spainhour, a professional artist with extensive show experience, will share some of the tips that she has picked up attending conferences and workshops on marketing one's work and creating gallery presentations. Also, Emily-Sarah Lineback, new editor of Winston-Salem Monthly magazine, will speak on print marketing options and other tips of the trade as an experienced entrepreneur.

Cost: $15 AAWS members, $20 non-members

With more than 500 members of all ages and representing all artistic mediums, the shows in our downtown gallery location are fresh and engaging. Community Exhibits take art to the general public, with partnership host galleries in more than 20 regional businesses and public spaces.

Special programs engage members in networking and educational opportunities, while also allowing skills to be shared. At Associated Artists, we give art a chance to be seen by giving it a space to be shown.

As the most active arts organization in the triad, whether you are an artist or art appreciator... we welcome you!
